  • Quick Start Rules:

Remove the following Building Permits from the deck as follows:
3 player: Blacksmith, General Store, and Doctor
4 player: Blacksmith, General Store, Doctor, and Post Office
5 player: Blacksmith, General Store, Doctor, Post Office, and Firehouse
6 player: Blacksmith, General Store, Doctor, Post Office, Firehouse, and the other General Store

Deal each player one of these Building Permits. Each player places their Residence on the board as usual. Each player then places their additional Building on the board on any legal space. During the setup, each player receives an additional 2 cards (they will not get Rewards for the extra building placed during setup).

Use the Advanced Setup Rules (Optional Rule #1).

We had many people comment to us that Dry Gulch really needs to be played with 3-dimensional buildings and people. We agree. Therefore, we are making available a do-it-yourself kit for the game -- call it Expansion #1.

The kit contains preprinted sheets for buildings on cardstock to be cut out, folded and assembled for use with your game. Heck, paint them, if you like. For a paltry $3.00 (which includes postage in the US), you can have your very own set. You will still need to supply your own figures (we've found N Scale model railroad figures to be the perfect size). We've supplied an artists' conception for those who want to see what we're on about.

  • Three player version: remove one entire suit and one of the jokers. All other rules remain the same.

  • Change rule #2 under "Play" to read: The same player may meld one set of cards, if possible. A meld is either one set of three cards of the same number, or one set of three cards of consecutive but different numbers. Only one wild card may be used in any meld.
  • Add to the "Scoring" rule: The value of each card in the player's hand is subtracted from their final score.

Common Excess

Ever wonder what to do with all those extra common and promo cards from the multitude of CCGs out there? We've got an answer for you. Play Common Excess -- a new (and free) game from the Hangman Games sweatshop. We've uploaded the rules and a jpeg of the cards
